Wear them at home

Before using your new mountain shoes outside, wear them at home for a few days, in order to allow your feet to get used to your new shoes and to allow shoes to soften and adjust to your feet.

Try them on short paths

Both in the city and on dirt trails, use your new mountain shoes on short paths before going trekking or hiking - in order to know how they feel on different kinds of terrain and slope.

Tie them tight

It is very important to tie your mountain shoes as tight as you can, in order to avoid friction between shoes and feet: the less the rubbing, the more you avoid blisters.

Wear specific socks

Mountain socks are specifically designed to minimize the rubbing between your feet and your mountain shoes - that is why you must wear them even in the summer, even if you would prefer to wear lighter socks because of heat.
You must also pay attention to their size: the sock has to fit perfectly to the foot, without being too tight nor slipping while you walk.

Prepare your feet

Before you wear your mountain shoes, you should always prepare your feet, applying specific adhesive bands on delicate areas that are most likely to rub, and using a specific sweat-absorbing powder, in order to prevent humidity from causing even more friction.

Take advantage of breaks

Every time you have a break, free your feet and let them dry in the open air: the humidity sweat creates inside mountain shoes increases rubbing, making it much easier to get blisters.

Always bring blister patches

Always remember to put in your backpack some blister patches, in order to solve the problem as soon as it occurs - avoiding thus making things worse.

Choose quality mountain shoes

It might sound obvious, but to choose quality mountain shoes is essential not to have troubles: well made mountain shoes fit perfectly to your feet, they do not ruin, and their lacing is specifically designed to wrap the foot and accompany movements without creating friction.

Take care of your mountain shoes

It is very important to take care of your mountain shoes, in order to always keep them soft, ergonomic and perfectly fitting to your feet: always apply a specific cream for leather or Nubuck (based on which material your mountain shoes are made of) - you can easily find it both online and in specialized stores.
